August 17, 2023 News

Attendees included Amy Davis, Vice President of Cummins and President of the Components and Accelera Business; Nathan Stoner, Vice President of Cummins and Chairman of Cummins China; Chai Yongquan, Vice President of Cummins and General Manager of Cummins China Components Business; Jane Beaman, Vice President of Cummins and General Manager of Engine Components and Software; and Yuan Jun, General Manager of Cummins Power Systems China.

30 Years of Development Strengthening High-Quality Growth

Since entering China in 1996, Cummins Turbo Technologies Wuxi has focused on innovation in turbocharging technology, producing the HOLSET® series turbochargers for global commercial vehicle and industrial markets.

Over the past three decades, the company has played an important role in China’s high-quality manufacturing development. From core technology breakthroughs to diversified low-carbon solutions, the company continues to provide efficient and reliable turbocharging technologies for both on-highway and off-highway applications.

By the end of 2025, cumulative sales of diesel engine turbochargers had reached 22.9 million units. More than 50% of the company’s engineers are local Chinese experts supporting global customers and leading platform development for turbocharger products.

Strategic Role in Cummins Global Components Business

As one of the earliest core components operations established by Cummins in China, Cummins Turbo Technologies Wuxi has grown into a comprehensive turbocharging solutions provider serving multiple application scenarios.

Through continuous investment in diversified low-carbon and zero-carbon technologies, the company responds precisely to evolving customer demands. At the same time, it strengthens Cummins’ localization strategy in China and supports the long-term growth of its global components business.

New Generation P7 and Q7 Turbochargers for High-Horsepower Engines

In recent years, China’s high-horsepower engine market has expanded rapidly, especially in applications such as data centers, power generation equipment, and heavy construction machinery. These industries demand higher performance, reliability, and efficiency from turbochargers.

At this important milestone marking its 30th anniversary, Cummins Turbo Technologies Wuxi officially released the P7 and Q7 next-generation high-horsepower turbocharger platforms.

The introduction of localized high-horsepower turbochargers further strengthens the company’s product portfolio and enhances its responsiveness in key markets such as construction machinery and generator sets.

Broad Engine Coverage from 15L to 60L

The new P7 and Q7 turbocharger platforms support engines ranging from 15 liters to 60 liters in displacement, providing flexible solutions for a wide range of heavy-duty applications.

These new turbochargers deliver significant improvements in both efficiency and reliability, helping customers operate more efficiently even under demanding working conditions.

Advanced Design Improves Efficiency and Fuel Economy

The new turbocharger design features upgraded compressor wheels and turbine components that help reduce engine fuel consumption. Different flow turbine housing designs also improve engine transient response and enhance generator load performance.

As a result, engines equipped with the new P7 and Q7 turbochargers achieve better fuel economy and higher operational efficiency.

Multiple Technologies Ensure Stability and Reliability

The new turbocharger platform integrates high-speed core balancing technology (HSCT) combined with water-cooled core component design. This approach effectively reduces bearing system temperatures while improving rotor reliability and service life.

Smart Manufacturing Supports High-Performance Turbochargers

The development of high-performance turbochargers is closely supported by intelligent manufacturing capabilities. At the Wuxi smart manufacturing facility, Cummins has established a complete localized production system for high-horsepower turbochargers.

This system covers the entire process from raw material procurement and core component manufacturing to final product assembly and local delivery.

As manufacturing capabilities continue to improve, the company has introduced advanced intelligent manufacturing equipment and testing systems, including high-precision dynamic balancing machines.

Digital Tools Improve Quality and Delivery Performance

Through digital tools and end-to-end operational management, Cummins Turbo Technologies Wuxi further enhances product performance, quality, cost efficiency, and delivery capability.

Driving the Future of Sustainable Turbocharger Technology

Standing at the new starting point of its 30th anniversary, Cummins Turbo Technologies Wuxi will continue to integrate global resources with local innovation advantages.

By focusing on technological innovation, agile response, and reliable product quality, the company aims to work closely with partners to build a more sustainable future for the global power and equipment industry.
