Chongqing Cummins Celebrates 30th Anniversary with 330,000th Engine Off the Line, Launches 19L Methanol Multi-Fuel Platform

On March 24, 2025, Chongqing Cummins Engine Co., Ltd. (referred to as "Chongqing Cummins") celebrated its 30th anniversary at its high-power engine factory in Liangjiang New Area. Representatives from the Chongqing municipal government, Liangjiang New Area government, shareholders, customers, industry partners, and company employees witnessed this milestone.

The 330,000th Engine Rolls Off the Line

In the presence of guests, the 330,000th engine, embodying 30 years of Chongqing Cummins’ development, officially rolled off the production line. This QSK38 new-platform electronic control engine, one of Chongqing Cummins’ flagship products, was delivered to the end customer on-site—Longyan Haidexin Automobile Co., Ltd. Haidexin, a company specializing in the research and manufacture of emergency power vehicles, is also one of the earliest customers to equip vehicles with the QSK38 new-platform electronic control engine in bulk.

The successful delivery of the 330,000th engine further demonstrates Chongqing Cummins’ solid foundation and achievements in high-power engine development. Starting from the N and K mechanical series engines, Chongqing Cummins has continuously broken through technical boundaries, transforming from a single product line into a diversified, high-performance product portfolio. Today, Chongqing Cummins produces engines ranging from 14L to 60L, meeting diverse industry and application requirements and achieving global market breakthroughs.

Launch of the 19L Methanol Multi-Fuel Engine

At the event, Chongqing Cummins also focused on its future zero-carbon strategy, unveiling the latest R&D achievement in its multi-fuel platform—the 19L methanol engine. This model uses low-carbon fuel technology to achieve high thermal efficiency; critical components are designed to be alcohol-resistant and corrosion-resistant, enhancing overall reliability. Additionally, innovative cold-start technology enables reliable engine start at temperatures as low as -30°C.

The lower part of the multi-fuel engine below the cylinder head gasket uses many common components, while the cylinder head gasket and upper parts are tailored for different fuel types, covering multiple series. This provides customers with multi-fuel platform options, whether advanced diesel or alternative fuels such as natural gas and hydrogen.

The methanol version demonstrates excellent performance and environmental adaptability, making it ideal for mining, construction machinery, power generation, and marine applications. It helps users reduce operating costs while contributing to industry carbon neutrality.
